BHUBANESWAR: Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) has been conferred with prestigious best CSR Practices Award for ‘Outstanding CSR Practices in Steel & Power Sector’ on April 12, 2016 at Bhubaneswar during the ‘Odisha CSR Summit 2016’.
On behalf of JSPL, it’s Executive Vice President & Group CSR Head Prashant Kumar Hota received the award from Odisha Industries Minister Mr. Debi Prasad Mishra, in presence of Member of Parliament Prasanna Patasahani and other dignitaries.
Odisha CSR Summit 2016 has been organised by leading Web Channel having more than One Crore Viewership ‘Odisha Live’ and KIIT School of Rural Management. Editor of OdishaLive.tv Nilambar Rath and Director of KIIT School of Rural Management Prof. L. K. Vaswani were also present on the occasion.
JSPL was selected to be awarded for best CSR Practices Award in Outstanding CSR Practices in Steel & Power Sector Category for its innovative & people oriented CSR programmes & its result oriented implementation.
Receiving the award EVP & JSPL Group CSR Head Hota said,, “At JSPL, CSR is embedded with the Company’s Core Activities. The Social Development projects in JSPL are driven by the vision of our Chairman, Naveen Jindal to make a positive contribution to the underprivileged communities. JSPL Foundation, led by Smt. Shallu Jindal, has initiated several programmes for supporting socio-economic, educational and health initiatives development of people in Odisha”.
He thanked the organisers for this recognition. Convergence and partnership with community and government is a key strategy of JSPL to maximise the impact of its CSR Activities and reach a wider audience, he added.
JSPL formulated and implemented various CSR activities for benefits of people in the state. Some of the key activities include Watershed management programme at Angul Distict in partnership with NABARD and Community for increasing Production and Productivity and income of the Rural Household, Kishori Express Programme in partnership with the Dist administrative for controlling anaemia in adolescent girls’ and controlling IMR and MMR in two blocks of Angul district, Providing Food and Nutrition support to more than 1000 Tribal boys and Girls for enabling them to pursue their studies in Keonjhar district and Construction of 250 Bedded Hostel at Bonai in Sundergarh district for Tribal Girls.
“Inclusiveness has been the core focus of implementation of CSR Projects in all locations of JSPL. The CSR Projects have contributed to holistic improvement in quality of life of the underprivileged community members,” said Manish Kharbanda, Executive Director & Head (Odisha Corporate Affaris).
JSPL has been awarded with several prestigious laurels in CSR sector earlier by different National & International organisations. Some of the awards include Green Corporate Award in Odisha Environment Congress-2015, OTV CSR Award-2015, Golden Peacock CSR Award in Dubai -2012, Green Tech CSR Award -2011, Odisha INC Green Award -2015, Tefla’s CSR Award from 2008 to 2015, Odisha Safety Conclave CSR Award -2011 to 2014, Odisha CII best CSR exhibition Award and others.
