In a move aimed at providing relief to underprivileged communities and various construction areas, JSP Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), has introduced a Chilled Drinking Water Van in Bhubaneswar. This initiative was launched on August 7, 2023, marking the 93rd birth anniversary of the founder of the OP Jindal Group, Shri Om Prakash Jindal.
The Inauguration
The Chilled Drinking Water Van project was inaugurated by the Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Smt. Sulochana Das. Accompanying her at the flag-off ceremony were various esteemed personalities including Shri Prashant Kumar Hota, the President and Group Head (CSR) of JSP, and Shri B.P. Mishra, EVP (Corporate Affairs). Many other officials from JSP and JSP Foundation also graced the occasion with their presence.
Aim and Functionality of the Project
The aim of this initiative is to provide safe and chilled drinking water to the most vulnerable sections of the society and workers at various construction sites. The van comes equipped with a capacity of 1,500 litres and is dedicated to serving on a daily basis. This is a significant effort aimed at offering relief during sweltering temperatures, particularly to those who may not have easy access to clean and refreshing drinking water.
The van will follow a schedule and route as approved by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), ensuring it reaches those in need in a timely and efficient manner.
A Growing Endeavour
Notably, this is the fourth chilled drinking water van that has been initiated in Odisha by the JSP Foundation. This underlines the organization’s commitment to serving the community and meeting its corporate social responsibility obligations. The Foundation continues to work towards the welfare of the communities, embodying the values and vision of its late founder, Shri Om Prakash Jindal.
