ANGUL (India CSR): Jindal Foundation, the Social Arm of Jindal Steel, has kicked off the weeklong observance of National Nutrition Week 2025 with an inaugural program at Badamahital village under Natada Gram Panchayat in Angul district. The initiative is focused on combating malnutrition, anemia, low birth weight, and stunted growth by raising awareness on balanced nutrition, healthy eating habits, and hygiene practices.
Health Sensitisation Camp
The opening day featured a Health & Sensitisation Camp, which saw enthusiastic participation from more than 100 villagers. Organized in collaboration with ICDS, Chhendipada, the camp highlighted the importance of a balanced diet, handwashing practices, and everyday hygiene. Practical demonstrations showcased how locally available food items can be transformed into affordable and nutritious meals, while recipe demonstrations and a moringa plantation drive further enriched the session.
Program Inauguration Ceremony
The program was inaugurated by Smt. Susama Sethy, Child Development Project Officer, Chhendipada, in presence of Smt. Kamini Bala Sahu, ICDS Supervisor, Shri Jayanta Kumar Mohanty, HOD CSR, members of the CSR team, and Anganwadi workers.
Promoting Behavioural Change
Throughout the week, activities will be extended to several villages, with an emphasis on creating social and behavioural change through effective communication. Key focus areas include antenatal care, optimal breastfeeding practices, complementary feeding, anemia control, growth monitoring, balanced diets, right age of marriage, and hygiene and sanitation. Special attention will be given to spreading awareness on the first 1,000 days of life, considered crucial for a child’s overall development.
Combating Malnutrition Efforts
Jindal Foundation with the objective of curbing malnutrition , has been implementing Programmes like ‘Chiranjeev’ and ‘Sneh’ which abridge the nutritional gaps of vulnerable groups in Odisha , Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand holistically nourishing more than 1 lakh lives. Under the Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan , the Jindal Foundation has brought out more than 8 lakh girls out of moderate and severe anemia across India.
