New Delhi: Jakson Group in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) and CURE recently commenced a waste management plant at Anand Vihar, New Delhi.
The “Waste to Manure” project, was inaugurated by cricketer turned politician, Gautam Gambhir. The project aims to create a sustainable waste management system by promoting household waste segregation and further processing it into usable compost.
The plant is set to benefit over 2 lakh residents and reduce landfills load.
‘Waste to Manure’ Program was started by Jakson Group & CII under their City Connect Forum towards making Delhi a Zero-Waste City. Various such projects are being initiated across the city through CSR Support from members for processing the waste at community level itself in a phased manner.
The project aims to promote household waste segregation by setting up decentralized waste processing facility in Anand Vihar ward in East Delhi.
One of the key measures taken is to promote segregation at source and improve door-to-door collection efficiency. The implementing partner of the project is expected to implement this project over a period of 12 months, where it would work with the local RWA and other community groups, Sanitation workers and EDMC staff engaged in the waste management of these wards.
The process would include setting-up a door to door waste collection process, educate households on segregation at source, hold workshops and sessions on household composting, promote kitchen gardens, engage waste collectors, alongside the possibility of scaling up these activities in other areas. The company would be involved in all educational programmes & would closely monitor & review the implementation of this project.
