Employees pledge salary donations towards social welfare projects, Supports education, healthcare, sustainability and livelihood creation to create social impact across the country

NEW DELHI: Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in creating and sustaining safe, comfortable and efficient environments, announced the 3rd edition of its Employee Giving campaign in association with United Way of India. Through this initiative, the employees are given an opportunity to choose a cause that they believe in and donate an amount they would like, towards their chosen cause. The campaign encourages voluntary involvement of Ingersoll Rand employees in social welfare activities to make a positive impact in the communities where the company operates.
Commenting on this initiative, Swati Bhattacharya, Vice President – Corporate Relations and Public Affairs, Ingersoll Rand said, “At Ingersoll Rand, we believe in creating social value for the communities we operate in and understand that this can only be achieved through convergence and collaboration. Integrating energies within the organization through employee driven contributions and partnerships with external forces has helped us scale up our campaign in the past 2 years. We are encouraged by the response we have gathered so far and look forward to an even higher level of participation this year to be able to facilitate Education, Healthcare, Sustainability and Livelihood generation in the country.”
Ingersoll Rand launched the “Employee Giving Campaign” in partnership with United Way of India in 2011 and has made significant progress since then. As part of this initiative, the employees voluntarily contribute a one-two-three days’ salary, contribute to a social cause through an NGO of their choice.
The amount contributed by the employees is then matched by both the organization in India and by the Global Foundation in the US equally. The amount collected is then donated to 16 pre-selected NGO’s across cities towards empowerment of the marginalized sections of the society.
The funds raised by the company through the last year’s contributions were donated to 15 NGOs across India that run projects in the area of environment, resource conservation, education, healthcare and improving livelihoods. Ingersoll Rand undertook various activities nationally to enable projects in the areas identified in partnership with these NGOs. Some of the noteworthy ones include enabling approximately 600 students in Nagercoil School, 155 students from The Pali Chimbai Municipal School with formal education and medical aid. About 100 cataract patients were empowered with the gift of vision project.
These projects among others were aimed at providing holistic care to marginalized sections through shelter, education, medical aid and nutrition. As part of the organization’s commitment to enable environmental sustainability, Ingersoll Rand facilitated restoration of the Kaikondanahalli Lake in Bangalore and plantation of 500 trees across 12 public spaces in Mumbai and Gurgaon.
With the Employee Giving Campaign in its 3rd year of existence, Ingersoll Rand has successfully inculcated a culture of individual social responsibility amongst its employees and hopes to leave a dent on the society with its combined effort to provide a dignified life to the marginalized sections of the society.
