India vs England Women, 1st T20I Match: The Indian women’s cricket team will return to action after its gold medal-winning performance at the Hangzhou Asian Games as it takes on England in the first of a three-match T20I series at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday. The hosts will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, who was the top scorer in the Asian Games with 183 runs in five matches. The visitors, on the other hand, will be captained by Heather Knight, who recently led England to a 2-1 win over New Zealand in a T20I series.

India and England have played 19 T20Is against each other, with England winning 15 and India winning four. The last time they met in a T20I was in July 2021, when England won by 18 runs (D/L method) in Northampton. Nat Sciver was the player of the match for her 55 off 27 balls and 1/16 with the ball. The last time they played in India was in March 2018, when India won by eight wickets in Mumbai. Smriti Mandhana was the player of the match for her 76 off 40 balls.

Smriti Mandhana: The left-handed opener is one of the most destructive batters in the world. She has scored 1788 runs in 75 T20Is at an average of 25.54 and a strike rate of 119.51. She has 12 fifties and a highest score of 86. She was the leading run-scorer in the Asian Games with 183 runs in five matches at an average of 61 and a strike rate of 156.41. She also scored a century in the warm-up match against England Academy on Monday.

Harmanpreet Kaur: The skipper and the middle-order powerhouse is the second-highest run-scorer for India in T20Is with 2315 runs in 118 matches at an average of 26.59 and a strike rate of 125.88. She has 14 fifties and a highest score of 103. She was the second-highest run-scorer in the Asian Games with 172 runs in five matches at an average of 57.33 and a strike rate of 155.40. She also scored a fifty in the warm-up match against England Academy on Monday.

Poonam Yadav: The leg-spinner is the leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is with 95 wickets in 68 matches at an average of 14.31 and an economy rate of 5.65. She has four four-wicket hauls and a best of 4/9. She was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the Asian Games with 10 wickets in five matches at an average of 7.10 and an economy rate of 3.55. She also took three wickets in the warm-up match against England Academy on Monday.

Nat Sciver: The all-rounder is the third-highest run-scorer and the second-highest wicket-taker for England in T20Is. She has scored 1799 runs in 88 matches at an average of 25.70 and a strike rate of 118.46. She has 11 fifties and a highest score of 82. She has also taken 64 wickets at an average of 19.68 and an economy rate of 6.28. She has one four-wicket haul and a best of 4/15. She was the player of the match in the last T20I against India in July 2021 for her 55 off 27 balls and 1/16 with the ball.

Heather Knight: The captain and the top-order batter is the fourth-highest run-scorer for England in T20Is with 1478 runs in 85 matches at an average of 23.96 and a strike rate of 114.84. She has eight fifties and a highest score of 78. She also bowls occasional off-spin and has taken 29 wickets at an average of 20.86 and an economy rate of 5.74. She has a best of 3/9. She was the leading run-scorer in the T20I series against New Zealand in September 2021 with 154 runs in three matches at an average of 51.33 and a strike rate of 132.75.

Sophie Ecclestone: The left-arm spinner is the leading wicket-taker for England in T20Is with 102 wickets in 66 matches at an average of 13.94 and an economy rate of 5.88. She has three four-wicket hauls and a best of 4/9. She was the leading wicket-taker in the T20I series against New Zealand in September 2021 with 10 wickets in three matches at an average of 7.30 and an economy rate of 4.87. She also took four wickets in the warm-up match against India A on Monday.
