MUMBAI: On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day observed on 15th July, NE Sridhar, AVP & Head of Corporate Sustainability, Titan Company Limited said that Titan CSR programmes have skilled 12,000 youth last year.
In FY 23, the project is expected to benefit about 11200 youth,
Every year 15th of July is marked as World Youth Skills Day with the aim to focus on the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, entrepreneurship and work. The day focuses on the important role played by skilled youth in addressing current and future global challenges.
World Youth Skills Day is an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the relentless spirit of today’s youth to learn, grow and prosper.
NE Sridhar, AVP & Head of Corporate Sustainability, Titan Company Limited said that preparing young minds for the workforce of the future is not only about training them with effective learning modules in a conducive environment but is also about imparting life skills, workplace readiness skills, communication skills and helping them in understanding the prevailing job market conditions.

It is important to understand the aptitudes, strengths and weaknesses of the candidates and to help build competencies with respect to the current industry requirements and future skills for a holistic skillset development, the added.
Amongst various categories of youth, Titan has a special focus on skilling and placing Persons with Disabilities (PwD’s), as part of its LeAP initiative. Unemployed youth from urban and rural areas are mobilised, counselled, assessed for their strengths and aspirations and put through training programmes that are aligned to job market requirements. All Titan LeAP programmes work towards empowering the youth to earn a minimum average monthly salary of Rs 12,500, NE Sridhar, AVP & Head of Corporate Sustainability, Titan Company Limited further said.

Across all these programmes, we have skilled 12,000 youth last year, he said.
The Titan LeAP programs are of 3 kinds:
skilling for employment,
skilling for employability and
skilling for livelihood/entrepreneurship.
Over the last four years, Titan has invested in quality programs that have had stupendous success in placing trained youth in employment, making many Engineering and ITI students better employable and in secured entrepreneurship opportunities for hundreds of young men and women.
What sets it apart from other skilling programmes is the empathy with which the trainers connect with the students. Titan LeAP is managed by 5 partners and is spread across 41 districts in 3 states.
