New Delhi: As the world fights Covid-19, India CSR has started a special campaign – Corporate Against Corona.
Campaign’s objective is to sensitise corporate and CSR leaders to fund prevention, management of the novel coronavirus – particularly those where the needs are the greatest and also mitigate aftereffects of the disease on poorest of the poor.
The campaign will also celebration the actions taken by leaders.
The effect of Coronavirus is being seen on millions of poor around the country due to freefall of the economy and social distancing.
While the government can be appreciated for the proactive measure it has taken to prevent the contagious virus, the corporates need to join the fight.
India CSR’s editorial team is giving special attention to the issue. While the home page of indiacsr.in has featured section, a dedicated page indiacsr.in/covid19 has been created.
The central government has decided to allow India Inc to use their mandatory corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending on measures to fight COVID-19. The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday confirmed that spending of CSR funds for COVID-19 is eligible CSR activity.
“In view of the spread of novel coronavirus in India, its declaration as pandemic by the WHO, and decision of Government of India to treat this as notified disaster, it is hereby clarified that spending of CSR funds for COVID-19 is eligible CSR activity,” Sitharaman said on Twitter.
