Meenakshi Batra is an accomplished and widely recognised professional with over 24 years of experience in the international development, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and not-for-profit sector.

BANGALORE: India CSR, world’s popular CSR newswire, has awarded Ms. Meenakshi Batra, CEO, Charities Aid Foundation with NGO Women Leadership Award for her outstanding contribution to CSR space at India CSR Award gala night held on Saturday, August 27th 2016 at Bengaluru in the presence of more than 100 CSR leaders.

B. Jayachandra, Hon’ble Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs & Higher Education, Govt. of Karnataka was the Chief Guest of the gala ceremony. Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, DG & CEO, India Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) delivered the key note address.

Meenakshi Batra is the CEO of Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) India, which is part of a Global Alliance of CAF organisations. Operational in India for the past 18 years, CAF India focuses on promoting ‘giving’ in India. It has a robust system for end-to-end CSR management, including a well-recognised corporate advisory, NGO due diligence and programme implementation portfolio. CAF supports all causes and some of its key focus areas include education, health, water, environment, livelihood, women, children and disability.

While receiving the honour Ms .Batra said, “It is a great honour to get recognized by India CSR. It also acknowledges our outstanding contributions in providing strategic support to corporates’ and individuals’ philanthropic initiatives and creating greater impact for their social investments. The inspiration helps us to continue the efforts with even more fervour.”

Speaking at the occasion, Rusen Kumar, Founder and Managing Editor, India CSR, said, “It is indeed a happy moment for me to congratulate Ms. Meenakshi Batra for her development work. She is a great personality with hands on experience in the areas of civil society, child and human rights, poverty, social exclusion and gender. I wish her all the success in making deeper in roads to address equity issues that mar development.”

Meenakshi Batra is an accomplished and widely recognised professional with over 24 years of experience in the international development, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and not-for-profit sector. Her skills include a wide range of development sector approaches, institutional donor programme management, organisational development and management, and budget and strategic planning. Meenakshi has served in various leadership roles with international development and humanitarian agencies in South and Southeast Asia. In addition, she has successfully led large country programmes in India, Afghanistan and Indonesia working with leading international development NGOs.

Meenakshi has championed children’s rights throughout her work life, be it research to raise awareness and advocate on negative impact of child labour on childhood, or promoting children’s participation and rights at the grass-roots. In Bangladesh and Indonesia, Meenakshi worked with a large number of local NGOs supporting their work on children’s rights, ensuring access to education, health, food as well as setting in place platforms to enable them to voice their opinions. As a gender specialist while working in tribal South Gujarat, she promoted women’s strategic and practical rights and participation in their local communities and economy.
