Building India 2047: Technology for Better Tomorrow - IIT Madras CSR Award 2023

This initiative aims to recognise and honor the work of corporates who have focussed on technology and research to create substantial sustainable and scalable social impact.

Focusing on the theme of ‘Technology-Driven Social Impact,’ the award will honor companies who have enabled technological solutions that address prevailing societal challenges through scalable & sustainable solutions.

(The Award includes CSR and Philanthropic Grant-funded)

Submission Deadline: 10 Nov 2023

Awards Ceremony: November 2023

WHO CAN APPLY?

Open for entries:

  • The application can be submitted by a company or a company’s CSR foundation.

  • The projects eligible for applying are those funded under CSR or Philanthropic grants.

  • Data should be furnished for a single entity for the project and not combined with group information.

PROJECT THEMES

Socially-relevant projects that are found to be the most impactful, sustainable and scalable, using technology to enrich/ enable change towards a better tomorrow, will be awarded under two categories –

Category A – Companies with turnover above 2000 Cr or their respective foundation arm.
Category B – Companies with turnover below 2000 Cr or their respective foundation arm.

The projects may pertain to any of the following themes. Indicative areas could include:

Agricultural Advancement & Food Security including Precision farming, AI in crop health, IoT in supply chain management.

AI & IoT for Societal Betterment including Energy consumption monitoring, and public transportation enhancements.

Conservation & Biodiversity including Technologies promoting marine and wildlife conservation, AI in ecosystem analysis.

Energy & Renewable Resources including Advancements in clean energy, renewable energy technology, energy conservation, AI, and IoT for energy optimization.

Environmental Stewardship including Solutions in waste management, circular economy, water conservation and clean water tech, climate action, Healthcare and well-being Innovations in telemedicine, health apps, AI-driven health diagnostics, and assistive devices.

Skill development and Educational Empowerment including E-learning platforms, AI-driven educational tools, and solutions for special needs.

Sports & Physical Activity including Tech-enhanced training tools, wearables for performance monitoring, and platforms for inclusive sports participation.

Urban & Infrastructure Innovation including Smart city solutions, urban planning tech, housing and sanitation advancements.

Women Empowerment through Technology including Livelihoods, entrepreneurship, bridging social, political, and economic divides.

The above is an indicative list for reference.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

The three main evaluation criteria are Social Impact, Scalability, and Sustainability. Innovation is a desirable parameter.

Social Impact

  • The number of people positively affected.

  • Demonstrated improvement in quality of life or a specific outcome.

Scalability

  • Potential for the technology to be replicated or scaled up in different regions or contexts.

 Sustainability

  • The long-term viability of the solution (financial, environmental, social).

Innovation

  • Originality of the technology or solution.

  • An improvement over existing solutions.

  • Focus on Scientific research on new solutions.

JURY PANEL

An esteemed panel of experts from academia and industry with depth of knowledge and experience in technology and social impact.
