A few months ago, their team visited schools in Palamu, a district in Jharkhand, for the training of iPrep digital class, a smart classroom solution, which they implemented in nine schools with the support of the Sahbhagi Shikshan Kendra NGO. On the first day of their visit to the Rajkiya Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya in Mahuari, their team encountered a surprising situation. The classrooms did not have any teachers, and the responsibility of managing students across different classes rested solely on the shoulders of Vikas Kumar Das, the Principal of Rajkiya Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya. This unexpected scenario aroused their curiosity, and the team members couldn’t help but inquire about the whereabouts of the teachers. Vikas’s response was equally surprising for them, “All the teachers are busy grading board papers.”
A Warm Welcome and Engaging Training
Undeterred by the busy atmosphere, he warmly welcomed their team. They gathered all the students in the classroom where the smart class had been set up. With genuine interest, both Vikas and the students participated in the training session. The students were captivated by the interactive content resembling their textbooks on the TV screen. Meanwhile, Vikas delved into exploring the reporting section, excited by the potential it held to monitor individual class progress and syllabus completion.
Amidst all the enriching moments during the training, one incident stood out for them.
After the training concluded and their team was preparing to leave with Vikas for documentation, the students began to disperse, playing and moving out of the class. With remarkable spontaneity, Vikas switched on the IFP, clicked on iPrep, navigated to class 6, selected the subject of math, and played video lessons from the introduction. What followed was heartwarming – all the students settled down, captivated by the lessons being presented. This incident highlighted a quick understanding of Vikas of how the smart classroom could be used effectively to create an engaging learning environment.
Unwavering Enthusiasm
The enthusiasm of Vikas didn’t waver even after the training session. He was highly impressed by the offline capabilities of the smart class content. In subsequent discussions, he shared his vision of using iPrep to aid teachers in quick concept revision, facilitating practice sessions, and conducting interactive activities. His dedication to adopting digital tools for the betterment of education was evident, and their team was gratified to witness his passion.
