ICICI Foundation; the CSR arm of ICICI Group, has been working towards providing skill training and livelihood opportunities to the marginalised sections of our society, the foundation said.
‘Inclusion’ is one of the strategic pillars at ICICI Foundation. It is pursued through relentless work towards creating inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods for deprived sections of our society. On Nov. 15, 2021, ICICI Foundation, started a pilot skill development-training batch for candidates residing at Garima Greh, a shelter home for transgender at Jaipur.
They expressed interest in acquiring skills to become a professional beautician and were willing to pursue as a career. ICICI Foundation assisted in setting up a classroom at Garima Greh for ‘Assistant Beauty Therapist’ program.
Trainers of ICICI Foundation conducted sessions at Garima Greh and candidates visited the ICICI Academy for Skills for practical sessions at the Lab facility.Overcoming numerous challenges during the program like social barriers, pandemic, lack of education etc., the batch of nine candidates successfully completed their skill training.
Some of them are working towards setting up their own saloon. One candidate has got a job with a reputed salon in Jaipur.The trainees were happy because they not only learnt technical skills, but they also learnt skills to be a better professional and they now feel one with the society.
