Over 300 homebuyers of M3M Solitude and M3M SmartWorld Gems projects in Gurugram are gearing up to take legal action against the builder, M3M. After three years of waiting for possession, buyers now face unexpected cancellations and feel misled, as the real estate market surges. These middle-class families are calling for intervention from authorities, urging others to avoid investing in M3M project
Three-Year Wait Ends in Disappointment
In 2021, hopeful homebuyers invested in M3M’s Solitude and SmartWorld Gems projects, depositing 10% as the booking amount and agreeing to pay the remaining 90% at possession. Since then, buyers have relentlessly followed up with M3M, expecting to move into their homes. However, with the project now complete and property values on the rise, M3M has issued cancellation letters to these buyers, leaving them in limbo.
Buyers Prepare for Court Action
Faced with these cancellations, the affected buyers are preparing to take the builder to court, determined to secure their rightful homes. Frustrated with the builder’s actions, buyers have also issued public warnings, urging others to reconsider investing in M3M projects. The homebuyers’ appeal includes calls to the Haryana government to address their grievances and prevent their hard-earned savings from going to waste.
Calls for Government Intervention
The buyers have requested intervention from Haryana’s Chief Minister, urging that 300 families not be abandoned in this situation. They are seeking action to ensure M3M is held accountable and are appealing to the Supreme Court to take notice of what they view as a massive scam against the middle-class families. The homebuyers are also calling for a high-level investigation to curb further exploitation of citizens by real estate companies.
Political Leaders Speak Out
AAP spokesperson Dr. Sarika recently met with the aggrieved buyers to understand their plight. Dr. Sarika criticized the administration’s silence on the issue, pointing out that laws such as RERA were enacted to protect consumers but fail to provide relief in practice. She expressed concern over such unethical practices and questioned why the administration remains unresponsive, especially given the considerable trust voters place in elected officials.
Local Community’s Frustration
Many buyers voiced their frustration over the lack of response from the Gurugram administration and local representatives, who they say have ignored their repeated pleas. Some buyers staged protests at M3M’s SmartWorld office, joined by residents like Manpreet, Shelly Kaushik, and advocate Kapil, who emphasized that repeated police complaints have yielded no resolution.
As buyers seek justice, they are hopeful that their calls for accountability and transparency will prevent similar incidents from impacting future homebuyers in Gurugram.
