Udaipur -An integrated mining and resources producer of zinc, Hindustan Zinc’s Central Research and Development Laboratory (CRDL) receives 6th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Environmental Best Practices Award 2019 under the category of Innovative Environmental Project.
The award was presented for CRDL project on ‘Material Conservation – Recovery of Antimony from Slag and Vanadium from Spent Catalyst’ during CII – the environmental best practices award 2019 & Green Co summit 2019 held from 3 to 5 July at New Delhi.
The Material Conservation project was awarded for developing two processes and generating value added products from residues and waste.
The project broadly focuses on recovery of antimony from lead smelter slag as antimony trioxide of more than 96% purity and recovery of vanadium as ammonium meta vanadate from spent catalyst, a hazardous waste presently disposed off in secured landfills.
About 172 case studies were submitted by 72 companies, out of which 17 case studies were selected through a systematic assessment by independent CII assessors for presentation.
