UDAIPUR: Hindustan Zinc, a leading mining company, has introduced the first Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) powered truck vehicle in their fleet. The 55 metric tonne Alternate Fuel Vehicle, provided by Greenline, a subsidiary of the Essar Group, will be used to transport finished products from the smelter to the consumer. This vehicle will reduce carbon emissions by 30% compared to a diesel truck.
On the occasion of the deployment, Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, stated, “Our vision of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 is driven by the philosophy of transforming the planet and creating green value for all our stakeholders. By introducing LNG vehicles, we are demonstrating our commitment to leading the green transport revolution. Hindustan Zinc aims to decarbonize the environment by providing immediate solutions and significantly reducing economic barriers.”
In an effort to reduce its environmental impact, Hindustan Zinc is continuously seeking ways to conserve natural resources and implement greener technology. The LNG vehicle has a capacity of carrying 40 tonnes of raw material and can reach speeds of up to 80 kmph. This vehicle will propel the company on its sustainable value-accretive journey and strengthen their focus on sustainability by achieving well-defined goals.
