UDAIPUR (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc, in collaboration with the Zawar Mines Mazdoor Sangh, concluded the 45th edition of the Mohan Kumar Mangalam (MKM) Football Tournament today at the MKM Stadium in Zawar, Rajasthan. Kashmir United FC lifted the trophy against Hindustan Zinc XI in a thrilling finale match, scoring 2-1.This iconic event hosted in Zinc City – Udaipurbrought together 12 talented teams from across India, each representing their state in a fierce display of football excellence. The finale match was graced by Dileep Singh Shekhawat from the Regional Football Association, Shakeel Ahmed from District Football Association, Rajesh Yadav – Superintendent of Police, Salumber,Ram Murari IBU-CEO of Zawar, Abhimanyu Singh Ranawat -MKM Steering Committee Secretary and Deepak Gakhreja – MKM Coordinator , Lalu Ram Meena – organizing committee secretary, Naga Ram Kharadi, Subroto Das, and CT Premnath . The MKM Tournament not only showcased the brightest young athletes but also celebrated the rich football legacy of the region and the passion that drives it.
Chief Guest, Mohammad Akbar, Former Indian Footballer commented, “I am truly overwhelmed by the passion for football I’ve witnessed here in Udaipur. After Bengal, I haven’t seen such a fervent crowd in years. It brings back memories of my own playing days, with the stands overflowing at every match. The Zawar Stadium has truly proven its zeal for the game, and the turnout at every ground is a testament to the immense popularity of football in this region. I commend Hindustan Zinc for organizing this large-scale tournament in the heart of rural Rajasthan, providing a valuable platform to nurture grassroots football talent.”
The tournament featured a strong lineup of teams, including Hindustan Zinc XI, Doon Star FC Dehradun, KMSWC Football Club Manipur, Kashmir United FC, DFA Udaipur, Ram Mohammad Singh Azad FC Punjab, YBFC Maharashtra, Akola Mumbai, and RT Boys Club Hyderabad, all competing for the coveted trophy. The company’s home team – Hindustan Zinc XI featuring players from the world-class Zinc Football Academy demonstrated resilience and determination.
The Zinc Football Academy, operated by Hindustan Zinc is amongst the very few academies in the country to be accredited with the Elite 3 Star Rating by All India Football Federation (AIFF). The academy has produced talents like Sahil Poonia, Mohammed Kaif,Prem Hansdak, who have represented India on the global football front.
