UDAIPUR: In this modern digital era, cyber security is a crucial aspect for everyone, both as an organization and as an individual. Hindustan Zinc celebrated the month of October as Cyber Security Awareness Month, with the theme “Do Your Part. Be Cyber Smart”. The theme encourages people and enterprises to take ownership of their role in safeguarding their part of cyberspace.
The celebration at Hindustan Zinc commenced with the CEO Arun Misra sharing his thoughts on the significance of cyber security in daily life and encouraging everyone to participate in generating awareness about it. “We have taken various initiatives in the cyber security domain and are more able to defend, counter and mitigate threats before they become a challenge for us. If everyone conducts responsibly and does their part then it becomes easier to implement security practices, raise community awareness, educate vulnerable audiences and train employees. This will ensure that our interconnected world is safer, closer and more resilient for everyone to function harmoniously.”
Following the CEO’s briefing, the organization’s COO-Mines, CFO, CHRO, and other leaders spoke to all employees about the necessity of cyber security.
Throughout the month, the company initiated a wide range of activities to raise awareness about cyber security, which includes communicating daily cyber tips and tricks to protect oneself from cyber threats, conducting cyber security quizzes to evaluate awareness among employees, performing cyber awareness training for both employees & local community, conducted phishing simulation and many more.
The company organized four weekly cyber security quizzes, with overwhelming response and participation across functions and sites. The organization has also identified several areas where it would establish a more targeted cyber threat awareness strategy.
Hindustan Zinc has integrated technological advancement into its supply chain operations, which are noted for their innovation and originality. On the IT front, Hindustan Zinc has set the bar high, implementing a variety of controls and filters that restrict access to available data to only those personnel who have been given permission. Recently, the organization earned certification for integrated ISO systems for its IT systems. This success, as well as the company’s other measures to secure employees, business partners, and customers from cyber threats, demonstrates the company’s determination to safeguard all of its stakeholders’ highly sensitive data as well as the commitment to highly progressive and IT-driven operations.
