HYDERABAD: GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (GVK EMRI) will train healthcare providers from developing countries in the near future.
During the inauguration of the State-of-the-art GVK EMRI Emergency Care Simulation Complex in Secunderabad on Aug 3, GVK Founder and Chairman – Dr GVK Reddy said, “We will also look to train healthcare providers from developing countries in the near future.”
The Simulation Complex, spread over 4000 sq.ft., has been commissioned with a grant from the Tata Trusts which aims to provide simulation based medical education using sophisticated and technically advanced manikins enabling students to evaluate, perform and repeat the same exercises until they get the procedure right, company said.
“We are thankful to Tata Trusts for their grant which has enabled us to set up this world class emergency care Simulation Complex that is most modern and equipped with technically advanced manikins.”, Dr GVK Reddy said.
The GVK EMRI Emergency Care Simulation Complex is located at GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute’s (GVK EMRI) main campus in Secunderabad.
On Aug 3, E.S.L. Narasimhan, Governor of Telangana, inaugurated the facilities.
Emergency management and life support skill gaps have been identified on a very large scale across India amongst doctors, nurses and para medical staff by the Medical Council and the Indian Nursing Council and the Simulation Complex has been commissioned with the objective of equipping the trainees with the requisite skills.
Emergency life support skills to save lives and reduce complications by timely stabilization and interventions require upgradation to enable assured level of care in public health institutions in India as per the research data available. Road Traffic Accidents cause a loss of 3 % GDP. Thus emergency life support skills are recognized as a major issue in terms of “Patient Safety”, “Patient Outcomes” and “economic burden”.

Likewise, American Academy of Family Physicians has given license to GVK EMRI for conducting Basic and Advanced Life Support courses. Qualified medical professionals are involved as resource persons in various training programs.
