GURGRAM: The representatives of Teekli Village, Gurugram are on a five- day visit to Ralegan Siddhi and Hivare Bazar, Maharashtra to take lessons from the two villages for developing Teekili as a Model Village.
The visit conducted under the aegis of DLF Foundation aims to provide exposure to the community to a model village. The long-term objective is to convert Teekli into a smart village model on Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana of government.
The objective of DLF Foundation planning the visit to Ralegan Siddhi for Teekli village representatives is to understand the intricacies and importance of a model village. Since Ralegan Siddhi is developed as a smart village under the guidance of Anna Hazare, Teekli Village looks up to the village to emulate its success story.”, Col. Prakash Tewari, Executive Director, DLF Foundation.
“The visit will be useful in making the village representatives realize the importance of practices such as environment conversation and solid waste management. We are determined to set a benchmark of social and economic development model in Teekli Village.”, he said.
“The aim of the project is to improve the overall development indicators of the Teekli village so as to uplift the overall quality of life of the community. The visit is aimed to study the model of inclusive development of villages through a participatory approach by engaging all stakeholders” said Col. Prakash Tewari, Executive Director, DLF Foundation.”, added.
For the said purpose, a total of 25 community members from Teekli Village including the sarpanch and several women have left for the tour. They are accompanied by the representatives of DLF Foundation. The delegation would also attend a training session addressed by social activist Anna Hazare.
“The tour of Ralegan Siddhi will be crucial in helping us understand the socio-political models used in the village and explore how this model can be integrated with Teekli Village. We are grateful to DLF Foundation for planning and coordinating this trip which would go a long way in ensuring the development of the village. The visit is being conducted under the Model Village Project of DLF Foundation. Through the Model Village Project, DLF Foundation proposes to set a benchmark for social and economic development model in rural locations of Gurgaon. The aim of the project is to improve the overall development indicators of the Teekli village so as to uplift the overall quality of life of the community.
DLF Foundation has evolved its own set of parameters which are based on detailed assessment and review of government programmes for creating a Model Village. The project has incorporated several initiatives incorporating education, livelihood, healthcare, skill development, waste management and village leadership development. DLF Foundation had earlier established Community Water Treatment System, crematorium, and Mobile Medicare Unit in Teekli Village under the project.
