DHENKANAL (Odisha): GMR Kamalanaga Energy Limited(GKEL), which is setting up a 1400 MW coal-based thermal power plant at Kamalanga, has extended its helping hand to the fire hit victims of Basoi village in Parjang block of Dhenkanal district in the state of Odisha.
Mr. K V V Rao, Managing Director, GKEL, provided 500 GI sheets to the affected villagers in the presence of Kamakshya Nagar Sub-Collector Mr. Biranchi Narayan Mohanty and other officials of the district.
Mr. Rao, along with other company officials, met the affected families of Basoi village and discussed relief and rehabilitation measures for fire hit people in the presence of district officials.
“I express my deep concern for the affected villagers, who have lost everything in the devastating fire mishap. We extended just our little hand by providing 500 GI sheets to the fire victims as we felt roof is essential over their head to get respite from the scorching heat and also to protect from rain expected shortly,” Mr. Rao said.
A major fire broke out at Basoi village on June 6 and 700 families rendered homeless with 1,500 rooms were gutted. Five persons including a 3-month-old baby sustained grievous burn injuries in the mishap.
Earlier, GKEL had extended its helping hand to the fire victims of Kansara village of Hindol Sub-Division where 250 families rendered homeless on February 24. GKEL provided 200 aluminium buckets and mugs to the affected villagers.
