ODISHA: GMR Group through CSR contribution from DIAL donated 18 dialysis machines to both districts through Fairfax India Charitable Foundation for deployment of 7 dialysis machines at Dhenkanal District Hospital and 11 dialysis machines at Angul District Hospital .
GMR CSR donation has strengthened the Fairfax India Charitable Foundation’s initiative in Odisha for creating access to free dialysis facilities at 26 district hospitals by donating 156 dialysis machines to the Odisha Government under PPP.
As of April 2019, more than 60,000 free dialysis sessions have been delivered in Odisha, including over 1400 free dialysis sessions at Dhenkanal District Hospital & 6350 at Angul District Hospital
Meena Raghunathan, Executive Director, CSR, GMRVF, said, “As part of CSR, GMR Group in association with Fairfax India Charitable Foundation, availed the opportunity to fulfill their social commitments through initiating participatory community development programs to ensure quality of life of people living near the power plant in Dhenkanal & Angul Districts.”
Ramesh R Pai, COO, GKEL said, “Now, kidney failure patients needing dialysis of Angul and Dhenkanal districts will get all benefit from the facilities at their doorstep as earlier they had to travel to Cuttack & Bhubaneswar for dialysis. The poor patients in the region will be more benefited from the free dialysis services.”
Abraham Alapatt, CEO, Fairfax India Charitable Foundation said “Our social impact target through this project is to offer 24,00,000 free dialysis to patients across India & 3,75,000 free dialysis to the patients of Odisha over a 5-year period”.
