BHUBANESWAR: GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) celebrated International Women’s Day at its plant premises and saluted the spirit of its female work force through a series of activities. GKEL oragnised a special program and felicitated women employees who had made a difference by their contribution to the company in their respective fields.
Symbolizing the event, the day started with welcoming of all women employees with flowers at gate by team HR-FMS. Inaugurating the function, Arabinda Pani, Head (O&M), said, “Women today are leading in all spheres of life and their contribution is important towards the development of the country. Whatever a woman achieves, she has to look after two worlds- personal & professional and being a home maker is not an easy task and creating a perfect family is the world’s difficult task.” Also Pani inspired the lady employees through sharing the remarkable achievement done by few of the leading & successful Ladies across the country.
Appreciating the multi-tasking ability of women, Srijit Mishra, Head (Human Resource), said, “From womb to tomb, it is a struggle for women. Both men and women have capabilities and it is just a matter of equal opportunity to prove.” He also applauded their contributions for the organization while highlighting the importance of a women workforce towards making an organization sustainable in today’s era. Women workers planted saplings in the plant to commemorate the day. The whole day celebration was bashed with fun, games, training on self-defense, cake cutting, prize distribution, sharing of great messages & discussions on significant bold initiatives to be commenced as per the IWD theme for the year 2017 “Be Bold For change”.
The community celebration at CSR office campus was marked by the lighting of lamp. On the occasion, quiz program was organized among Vidya Volunteers, Anganwadi workers, tailoring girls, Saraswati Sisu Mandir teachers, female employees and GKEL Ladies Club. GMR Varalakshmi Foundation distributed prizes to the winners.
