In some situations, there may be a case of a tie where 2 or more candidates score the same marks. The tie-breaker rules are given as below :
- Candidates holding a GATE score of 2021 will be given preference over those having scorecard of 2023.
- If the year of GATE score is the same, then preference will be given to that candidate with higher marks (out of 100)
- If the tie still persists, preference would be given to the candidates having All India Rank (AIR).
- If the tie still exists, the candidate’s Date of Birth will be considered. Candidates who are older are likely to be given preference.
- If the highly unlikely event of Date of Birth being the same, rank will be decided based on Random number generation.
