GATE CCMT Counselling Registration Begins, Apply by June 24

GATE CCMT is a Centralized Counseling process conducted for admission to M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan/M.Des courses in NITs and IIEST Shibpur.

NIT Kurushetra has begun the GATE CCMT 2023 Registration from June 5, 2023 onwards. The last date to complete the form filling, pay the application fee and fill the online choice is June 24, 2023. GATE 2023, 2022 & 2021 qualifiers can register for the CCMT Counselling 2023.  

CCMT counselling will take place in three rounds, however two extra special rounds will be conducted if seats remain vacant. 

  • The seat is offered to the candidate on the basis of the candidate’s scores and the cutoffs as decided by the respective institute. 
  • Candidates taking part in the counselling process must submit INR 3000 as the registration fees for the regular rounds and an additional amount of INR 3000 if he/ she wishes to further participate in the special rounds.

GATE CCMT is a Centralized Counseling process conducted for admission to M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan/M.Des courses in NITs and IIEST Shibpur. A total of 61 institutions participate in CCMT counselling which include all NITs, IIEST Shibpur, and some IIITs & GFTIs. Given below are the important information a candidate should know while applying for GATE CCMT Counselling.

CCMT 2023 counselling schedule is out on the official website- ccmt.admissions.nic.in. Candidates can check out the round-wise GATE CCMT 2023 dates in the table below:

GATE CCMT 2023: Counselling Fees

The counselling fees can be paid using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI, and e-challan. The various types of fees are detailed below:

GATE CCMT 2023: Counselling Process

GATE CCMT 2023 Counselling process generally consists of five stages.The GATE counselling process is as follows: 

Stage 1: CCMT Registration, Choice Filling, and Choice Locking: The registration, choice filling and locking process is entirely online. All eligible candidates are required to register themselves on the CCMT Portal by paying the registration fees. Once registrations are done, candidates are required to fill an application form to select their choices of courses and institutes for admission. The choices filed can be edited anytime till the last date of choice filling. 

Stage 2: CCMT Seat Allotment & Seat Acceptance Fee Deposit

  • Based on the choices filed and merit of the candidate, he/she would be granted a seat. The final result will be available online and would not be delivered individually to the candidate by any means of post or mail.
  • A fee of INR 30,000 is to be deposited by the candidate for confirming a seat.
  • After accepting the seat, the candidate should take a printout of the allotment letter for producing at the time of reporting and verification.

Stage 3: Online CCMT Document Uploading: Candidates must upload all the necessary documents for document verification process. However, the option of uploading documents will open only after paying the seat acceptance fee. Candidates have many options regarding their allotment which would be exercised upon reporting to the allotted Reporting Centers. Given below are the options available:

  • Floating: if the candidate wishes to participate in the next counselling rounds for seat upgradation. they wish to be considered in the next round for all of their higher preferred choices.
  • Sliding: Candidates can opt for sliding if they want to be considered for a higher preferred choice within the allotted institute.
  • Freezing: This option can be used if the candidate is satisfied with the result and does not want to upgrade. He/ she can freeze the seat allotted for admission.

Stage 4: Online CCMT Document Verification: The documents are verified online by an officer of the allotted institute. In case of any error, doubt and omissions a query would be sent to the candidate. The candidate must submit supporting documents if needed. Any candidate who fails to do so will be treated as Not-Reported. The seat allotted to them will be cancelled in such cases. 

Stage 5: Online Admission in the Finally Allotted Institute: After verification the candidates must pay the remaining fees (after deduction of the Seat Acceptance Fees) to the institute. The candidates who register for special rounds are not required to pay the fees.

Rules for GATE CCMT Seat Allotment

GATE CCMT Seat allotment is done on the basis of the Merit list and availability of seats as per Choices filled according to the Government of India (GoI) Reservation norms. In some situations, there may be a case of a tie where 2 or more candidates score the same marks. The tie-breaker rules are given as below :

  1. Candidates holding a GATE score of 2021 will be given preference over those having scorecard of 2023.
  2. If the year of GATE score is the same, then preference will be given to that candidate with higher marks (out of 100)
  3. If the tie still persists, preference would be given to the candidates having All India Rank (AIR).
  4. If the tie still exists, the candidate’s Date of Birth will be considered. Candidates who are older are likely to be given preference.
  5. If the highly unlikely event of Date of Birth being the same, rank will be decided based on Random number generation.
