PUNE: One of the most-awaited festivals in the Orissa state as well as in India, Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra is an annual event, which is celebrated in the month of June/July. Over the years now, as an annual tradition, Finolex Industries Ltd (FIL) participates in the festival with full fervor.

Like every year, Finolex Industries this year too organized free giveaways like waterproof bags, pocket calendars, caps and t-shirt for the thousands of devotees who came from all over India to be a part of this yatra in Odisha. The giveaways were distributed in various locations along the Grand Road, Puri.

The nine days Rath (chariot) yatra (procession), is one of the largest festival in Puri where a chariot with deities Jagannath (Vishnu avatar), Balabhadra (his brother), Subhadra (his sister) and Sudarshana Chakra (his weapon) leave their house to travel to their aunt’s temple, the Gundicha Temple. The yatra involves millions of pilgrims who come to be a part of the travel of the deities and help pull the Lord’s chariot along with the other priests.

Finolex Industries also added colour to the festivities by tying up with notable sand artist Sri Nikunja Kishore Nayak to create a 20ft*20 ft Sandart which led to a higher recall amongst visitors at the Rath Yatra. Additionally, Finolex Industries also hosted an exclusive Bhajan Sandhya on the occasion of Hera Panchami (4th Day of the Yatra) which saw performances from notable artists like Ira Mohanty, Sailabhama Mohanty, Sri Charan Mohanty, Manmath Mishra, Pankaj Pal to name a few. The company has also created artistic 3D Display Zones along the Bhubaneswar-Puri highway with light decoration, sound and kirtan group who will perform every evening for the entire duration of the yatra.

On this occasion, Nitin Kulkarni, President, Sales and Marketing, Finolex Industries Ltd. said, “Our participation in the Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra this year is the largest ever. Our national presence is through our distributors and customers and we make sure we participate in all local level festivals. They not only bring us close to our audience but also allows us to show solidarity with the people of all age groups.” He further added, “The giveaways are keeping in mind the requirements of the devotees through the yatra. It also becomes a way for companies to reach out to the masses and create a brand recall.”

Lakhs of devotees thronged the coastal town of Puri to catch the glimpse of deities re-embodied on chariots on the occasion of Rath Yatra, marking largest-ever religious congregation in Odisha. Finolex Pipes ensures that they participate in such large festivals and encourage the spirit of unity.
