New Delhi: Environmentalist and founder of the Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organisation (HESCO), Anil Prakash Joshi has been named for the Padma Bhushan award.
Notably, Joshi had been conferred the Padma Shri in 2006 for his contribution in promoting indigenous technologies.
Joshi has been involved in various initiatives like the ‘Gaon Bachao Andolan’ and has worked extensively with Himalayan communities.
He has also been instrumental in drawing the attention attention of policy planners towards issues of the Himalayas by celebrating a ‘Himalaya Day’ every year.
