Transworld Group Embarks on Ambitious Tree Plantation Drive: 500,000 Trees by 2027 to Celebrate 50th Anniversary
MUMBAI (India CSR): Transworld Group, a leading global shipping and logistics conglomerate, celebrated its annual Corporate Responsibility Day with a nationwide tree plantation drive, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability. The initiative marks the beginning of an ambitious journey to plant 500,000 trees by 2027, coinciding with the company’s 50th anniversary.
Planting for a Greener Future
Transworld Group commenced its tree plantation drive by planting 5,027 saplings across its locations in India and globally. The company partnered with two prominent NGOs:
Catch Foundation: Implementing the Miyawaki inspired CSVP methodology, Catch Foundation collaborated with Transworld Group for the plantation drive in Mumbai.
Aahwahan Foundation: Focusing on environmental causes and community development, Aahwahan Foundation partnered with Transworld Group for plantation drives in Delhi, Kandla, Kochi, Kolkata, Paradip, and Tirupur.
The initiative saw active participation from 113 volunteers and community members, demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental stewardship. Various tree species were planted based on the local ecological conditions of each region, including:
- Delhi: Neem, Badami, rosea tabebuia, Mango, Honge tree, Peepal tree, Silver Oak, Gooseberry
- Kandla: Guava, Jamoon, Gooseberry, Flower Queen, Neem, Banyan Tree, Mango, Fig, Peepal tree, silver oak
- Kochi: Paradise Tree, Rose Apple, populnea tree, Fig, Jackfruit, Mango, Neem, Malay apple, Jamoon, Guava
- Kolkata: Trumpet Tree, Amaltas, Mango, silver oak, Honge Tree, Jamoon, Neem, Guava
- Paradip: Gulmohar, Mahogani, Lemon, Neem, Peepal Tree, Guava, Badami
- Tirupur: Mango, Guava, Neem, Badami, Fig, Banyan tree, Neem, Portia tree, tamarind, bow tree, bamboo, Jackfruit

Corporate Responsibility Day with Nationwide Plantation Drive
Transworld Group marked its Corporate Responsibility Day, an annual celebration of the birth anniversary of its Founder Chairman Late R. Sivaswamy on 28th April and his contributions to various social and environmental causes.
In alignment with the company’s long-standing commitment towards environmental stewardship, celebrations involved several plantation drives across its all-India as well as global locations.
“Embarking on the journey of planting 500,000 trees till 2027, when Transworld group will be celebrating its 50th anniversary, 5,027 saplings are being sown as the company stands firm with its steadfast belief in environmental stewardship through community development via livelihood generation.”, the company said.
Plantation Drive in Mumbai
In Mumbai, the drive was conducted in association with Catch Foundation, an NGO implementing Miyawaki inspired CSVP methodology. While at Delhi, Kandla, Kochi, Kolkata, Paradip, and Tirupur, the partnership was established with Aahwahan Foundation NGO, an organization which has been working towards environmental causes among others.
In India, 113 volunteers were joined by community members to honor shared responsibility towards the environment through this plantation drive, to restore our planet.
As the company celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2027, the 500,000 trees planted will stand as a testament to its commitment to creating a more sustainable future for all.
