Dainik Bhaskar has been organizing Jal Satyagrah for the past 10 years. This year also Dainik Bhaskar will be organizing Jal Satyagrah with the core theme to “Save Water” by make some small changes in our daily habits of consuming water. It will be organized in major Sates of Danik Bhaskar such as Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana.
We are aware that Water is the foundation of food and life. Next to air, water is our most precious resource. Of the total water existing on our planet, only 3% is fresh water, out of which only 1% is available for drinking water and the balance 2% is inaccessible as it has locked in the form of ice caps and glaciers.
With only 1% of water available for human consumption, we must all recognize that water conservation really is our personal responsibility and not just leave it up to other people. We all have many ways that we use water, so why not do our part in conserving Water?
Water is precious and nature has been more than bountiful on India. But today conditions are different. Most of the lakes, rivers, wells and old bores are drying. We have used this most precious gift of nature recklessly by not giving a thought on recharge and maintenance of water resource.
Water Conservation and its many aspects have been explored and talked about since many years. It has been realized that there is an inertia and indolence that persists amongst the masses towards any environmental cause. Apparently this indolence does not let their thoughts translate into action over minor or passive exposures or consciousness triggers.
Dainik Bhaskar has been organizing Jal Satyagrah to create awareness among individuals to play their part in saving the precious water that is necessary for our own very existence.
