WEST BOKARO: Tata Steel West Bokaro Division observed World Tuberculosis Day on March 24, 2018 with theme of the year Wanted Leaders: For a TB-free world. On this occasion, an interactive session on Prevention of Multi Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR) was organized by Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) at its Training Hall near Sports Complex, West Bokaro.
The session aimed to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of tuberculosis (TB) and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.
More than 60 persons including anganwadi workers of Giridih block, sahiyas of West Bokaro and members of RISTHA project participated in this interactive session where Dr. Jayant Tripathy, Sr. Registrar, CSR and Dr. Sandeep Saha, Specialist (ENT), Tata Central Hospital, West Bokaro took sessions on various aspects of TB.
Apart from this, the participants were also informed regarding the facilities like Designated Microscopic Centre and DOTs medicine available at TSRDS, WB. An informative video was also screened on the present scenario of TB in India.
It is worth mentioning here that World TB Day is recognized each year on March 24, commemorating the date in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacillus that causes tuberculosis (TB), which opened the way towards diagnosing and curing this disease.
