RAIPUR: CSR should reach out to people living in remote areas, Dr. Shiv Dahariya, Chattisgarh Minister for labour, Urabn Administration and Development said on Thursday.
He was speaking at the 2nd Chhattisgarh CSR Leadership Summit themed at ‘CSR Partnership for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) held here.
He said, “The corporate world has always been involved in the progress of the people, and the development of the state and the country, but there is also a need to work under the head of education, health, women empowerment and control of infant-maternal mortality.”
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, a new industrial policy has been formulated for proper development of the state along with the state government industries and people working in the industry, added Daharia
India CSR Founder Rusen Kumar while welcoming the delegates, said, “Chhattisgarh lags behind many states in SDGs index. This forum will create opportunities for partnership among corporates, civil society and government for achieving sustainable development goals for the state.”
He urged the Government to create a CSR council for facilitating and monitoring CSR interventions.
The Summit organised by India CSR Network and supported by NABARD aims to put forth the CSR agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Chhattisgarh state.
Political leaders, Industry veterans, and CSR thought leaders shared their vision on SGDs in Chhattisgarh. Delegates representing civil society, Business, and Government joined to express their commitment to the inclusive development for the state.
The Summit witnessed leaders from organisations which contributed and shaped the domain of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and are visionaries behind current development agenda in the state.
The broader objective of the forum was to formulate a common goal among the CSR, Govt. and nonprofit organizations in Chhattisgarh for maximizing the benefit for society and opportunities for the corporate houses, establish robust relationships with communities and contribute towards the development of the state.
States have to play an important role in aligning their development agendas towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Active participation of states with full of enthusiasm and robust action plan are very much essential in this regard.
Chhattisgarh, a fastest growing state, blessed with the stable governance and strong political leadership has to play crucial role to lead in the path of SDGs.
