MUMBAI (India CSR): SBI Foundation, the CSR arm of the State Bank of India, has launched the SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship 2025. This year, the program will empower 23,230 meritorious students from humble and underprivileged backgrounds across India, nurturing the next generation of leaders and nation-builders. Additionally, as a continued effort to support the young minds of the nation, SBI commits Rs 90 crore towards scholarship in FY26.
Instituted in 2022, the SBI Asha Scholarship stands as a testament to SBI’s unwavering commitment to the dreams and aspirations of young Indians. By making higher education accessible to students from underserved communities, the scholarship reflects the Group’s vision of inclusive growth and long-term nation building.
The scholarship covers students from Class 9 onwards up to Postgraduate programs, offering financial assistance ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,00,000 annually per year till the completion of course in which the scholar has been selected. Dedicated categories have been designed to support:
- School students (Class 9–12)
- Undergraduate and Postgraduate students at NIRF top 300 or NAAC A rated institutes / colleges
- Scholars at IITs and IIMs
- Students pursuing medical courses
- Students aspiring to study abroad
- SC/ST students pursuing master’s and higher education abroad at Top 200 QS ranking universities
Further, the eligibility for the scholarship is as below:
- Applicants must be Indian nationals
- Applicants must have secured at least 75% marks or 7.0 CGPA in the previous academic year
- Family income for school students should be Rs 3 lacs or less
- Family income for college students should be Rs 6 lacs or less
Speaking about the initiative, Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, Chairman, State Bank of India, said, “As we mark our Platinum Jubilee celebrations this year, we take immense pride in launching the SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship. Through this initiative, we will support 23,230 of India’s brightest young minds from humble backgrounds, nurturing their aspirations and enabling them to realize their full potential. By creating a strong ecosystem around these scholars, we aim to empower them to become torchbearers of progress and contribute meaningfully to the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”
The application window opens on 18th September 2025 and will remain active till 15th November 2025. Students can apply via the official portal: www.sbiashascholarship.co.in. Eligibility details and category-wise benefits are available on the website.
