CSR: Reeva (R2V2) Contributes to Disaster Management Awareness in Ballia, UP

This initiative underscores the critical role that corporate social responsibility plays in addressing the challenges posed by natural disasters, setting an example for other organizations to follow.

The standout feature of the event was Reeva’s notable efforts to improve the disaster readiness of the local community.

BALLIA, Uttar Pradesh (India CSR): In a commendable initiative to bolster disaster management capabilities in Ballia, R2V2 Technologies Private Limited, which implements various CSR initiative of leading companies, played a pivotal role in the recent Disaster Management Public Awareness Training Program organized by the District Disaster Management Authority at the Ganga Multipurpose Auditorium, Collectorate, Ballia in Uttar Pradesh.

The highlight of this event was Reeva’s significant contribution towards enhancing the disaster preparedness of the local community.

Uttar Pradesh has selected Reeva to lead a disaster management program in the state, under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Reeva has already piloted this unique project. Furthermore, Uttar Pradesh along with Reeva aims to invite corporations to join this innovative PPP model.

Reeva demonstrated its commitment to partnership by distributing solar panels and tablets to 50 Aapda Mitra (आपदा मित्र) volunteers in the district. During the program’s inauguration, 20 volunteers were the first to receive these critical resources, marking a step forward in the district’s readiness for natural calamities.

This gesture not only exemplifies Reeva’s dedication to empowering local disaster management volunteers but also provides them with essential technological tools to aid their efforts in disaster prevention and response. 

The distribution of these tools is part of a larger effort to equip volunteers with the knowledge and technology necessary to mitigate the impacts of various natural disasters, such as heatwaves, floods, and earthquakes. 

The event also featured educational video clips on disaster prevention, aiming to raise awareness and prepare the community for disaster management.

DM Ravindra Kumar Champions Disaster Preparedness Initiatives

District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar, who inaugurated the program, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in building a resilient community capable of facing natural disasters. He emphasized the government’s directive to create awareness among the people and praised Reeva’s involvement as a significant contribution to this cause.

The training program, which aimed to provide comprehensive disaster management training to Gram Panchayat representatives, secretaries, revenue lawyers, and accountants, signifies a strategic approach to enhancing disaster preparedness at the grassroots level. By organizing workshops and distributing informational materials, the initiative seeks to foster a culture of preparedness and resilience among the local population.

By providing essential resources and support, Reeva is not just contributing to the immediate goal of disaster preparedness but is also investing in the long-term resilience and safety of the community. This initiative underscores the critical role that corporate social responsibility plays in addressing the challenges posed by natural disasters, setting an example for other organizations to follow.

CSR Partnership for Uttar Pradesh Disaster Management Initiatives

The Uttar Pradesh Govt. in collaboration with R2V2 Technologies Private Limited making significant strides in disaster management. This partnership is focusing on implementing social development programs through CSR initiatives, notably the Aapda Mitra scheme. This innovative program aims to equip 1000 disaster management volunteers in Uttar Pradesh with Rahat Prahari Tablets and solar systems to enhance their efficiency and reach during emergencies.

This initiative highlights the critical role of public-private partnerships in strengthening disaster management and encourages more companies to contribute to these efforts for a safer and more resilient society.

UP Govt is inviting CSR proposals from the companies to contribute Aapda Mitra scheme (आपदा मित्र योजना).

Community-Led Disaster Risk Management

It is worth mentioning that communities are often the first to respond to disasters, their involvement at the grassroots level is crucial for effective disaster management (DM). The engagement of community members in disaster-related efforts is absolutely necessary. To this end, the State of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has launched several initiatives aimed at boosting the preparedness of communities for a range of disasters.

Uttar Pradesh Disaster Management Strategy 2019: A Vision for Resilience and Development

The Uttar Pradesh Disaster Management Policy of 2019 underscores the importance of adopting a proactive, holistic, and enduring strategy for disaster management (DM), including disaster risk reduction (DRR) and disaster risk management (DRM). This approach aims to minimize the adverse effects of disasters on the state’s socio-economic fabric.

As India’s most populous state, Uttar Pradesh is home to around 230 million people and ranks as the fourth-largest state in terms of geographical area, covering roughly 243,290 square kilometers.
