Empowering Women in Jaisalmer Through PRABHA Microenterprise
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan: Viviid Emissions Reductions Universal Private Limited in association with CITTA Education Foundation India and a few more organizations are together supporting a Progressive Women’s Livelihood Intervention with an aim to set up a Microenterprise for them. Under this initiative, PRABHA (Radiance in English) – The Women’s Cooperative Centre was formally inaugurated in Jaisalmer earlier last month. 300 women from the hinterland of Jaisalmer are being trained for livelihood skills that will help them become self reliant.
Livelihood clubbed with Entrepreneurial Mindset
The core objective of establishing this initiative has been to empower, handhold, and engage 300 women hailing from diverse rural communities in Jaisalmer, specifically in regions including Kanoi, Salkha, Lakharam ki Dhani, Bhilo ki Basti, Meghwalwas, Siyamber, and Mangliyawas. These women are immensely benefitting from comprehensive training in the fields of embroidery, stitching, product making and local food processing. Simultaneously the intervention has been carefully curated to develop their entrepreneurial mindset enabling them to walk on the path of becoming a micro-nano entrepreneur in the times to come.
At the heart of this initiative stands the Women’s Cooperative Center which was inaugurated by Chaitanya Raj Singh, the erstwhile Maharawal of Jaisalmer and a Board of Director at CITTA Education Foundation India, at the prestigious Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School, Jaisalmer last month. This center serves as a collaborative workspace and hub for learning, offering a secure environment and creating a sustainable livelihood model for the women of rural Jaisalmer through promotion of their crafts, culture, and local cuisines.
Reviving the Traditional Art blended with Contemporary Designs
Women receive training from CITTA’s subject matter experts specializing in textile crafts like embroidery, stitching, beadwork, and other local crafts that have been gradually fading out. The subject matter experts for craft and embroidery are affiliated with the National Institute of Design. The aim is to revive the local traditional art with contemporary designs. In addition, they will learn an end-to-end scientific approach to produce local cuisines from locally grown condiments. An integral aspect of this center is the “Mann ki Tarang” program, which is designed internally by CITTA Foundation to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and skills of the women enrolled.
