PUNE: Kalyani Group in association with Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune today announced the launch of its state-of-the-art Institute for Prostate Cancer for Research, Diagnostics, Treatment and Education in Pune. The Institute for Prostate Cancer represents an unprecedented commitment to bringing world-class treatment and research to the country. It will use an integrated team approach in its state-of-the-art facility for both treatment and research.
The Institute for Prostate Cancer will be established and supported by Dr Ashutosh Tewari, an eminent expert in this field while Ruby Hall Clinic will support the research activities of the Institute. Dr Tewari is a Board certified American Urologist and Oncologist. Academically, he is recognized as a world renowned expert on urologic oncology with over 250 peer reviewed published papers to his credit; he is on such lists as America’s Top Doctors, New York
Magazine’s Best Doctors, and Who’s Who in the world.
This Institute for Prostate Cancer will have five distinct priority areas that will address several needs relating to prostate cancer which will include prostate cancer screening and treatment, prostate cancer genomics, imaging and education. Speaking on the occasion Mr Baba Kalyani, Promoter, Institute for Prostate Cancer and Chairman, Kalyani Group said, “I am happy to promote this state-of-the-art Prostate Cancer Institute in Pune for the people of Pune. Prostate cancer today, is the 2nd largest cause of death in males after lung cancer. Our endeavor is to create awareness about this potentially lethal disease and focus on research, early diagnosis & treatment. With the goals that the Institute strives to achieve, I am sure it will contribute in providing treatment to many patients who are suffering from this ailment. This is an important milestone in our philanthropic journey and I sincerely hope that someday in the not too distant future we will have a complete cure for this malaise.” I would also like to thank Dr. Ashutosh Tewari for taking on the mantle as Director in an effort to help eradicate this malady from our society, he added.

RUBY HALL CLINIC, PUNE
Pune’s First & Only Nationally Accredited Hospital Ruby Hall Clinic had a humble beginning when the founder Chairman Dr. K.B. Grant, an eminent cardiologist himself, started a small nursing home in 1959 with just two beds. In 1966 it was converted from a private institution to a public charitable trust, and later converted to the Grant Medical Foundation in 2000. Today Ruby Hall Clinic boasts of 550 inpatient beds including 130 intensive care beds; with staff strength of 150 consultants, 500 panel doctors and 1400 paramedical staff.
Ruby Hall Clinic has many distinctions in its half a century existence. It was the first hospital to introduce Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units in 1969. Pune’s first kidney transplant as well as first test tube baby happened here. It started cobalt therapy for cancer treatment and MRI/CT scan facilities and the Air Ambulance for the first time. Last year it brought the most advanced Imaging technology – Positron Emission Tomography to Pune.
Being a charitable trust hospital; medical care for the underprivileged has always been a priority of the management. In the last financial year over Rs. 6 crores has been spent in free treatment. The hospital conducts free camps in the far-flung areas of Maharashtra in order to benefit the rural population.
