Over 85 volunteers remove 1300 Kg of garbage. Plastic sent to government for recycling.
Mumbai: On January 22nd, 2023, Kalpataru Limited, a leading premium and luxury real estate developer in India, conducted a Beach Cleanup Drive at Prabhadevi Beach in Mumbai. This initiative, which is part of a larger project that will consist of 12 chapters over the next few years, was conducted in association with the Khushiyaan Foundation. Over 85 volunteers participated in the event, and were able to remove around 1300 Kg of garbage from the beach.
The plastic that was collected was sent to government authorities such as the BMC for segregation and recycling. The volunteers were also provided with cleaning tools and safety gear. The goal of the initiative is to consistently clean Prabhadevi beach and restore its natural beauty. Beaches are often covered in discarded plastic items, which can harm marine animals and pose a threat to their survival. Additionally, the buildup of garbage can lead to health hazards for humans, such as Dengue and Malaria.
