Strengthens its Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Activities across India

BENGALURU I GURUGRAM (India CSR): Mitsubishi Electric India and its group company, Mitsubishi Elevator India collaboratively initiated the Channappannahalli Lake Rejuvenation CSR project in 2021 which is in the vicinity of the Manufacturing unit for Mitsubishi Electric elevators.

Comprehensive Climate Action Project Transforms Lake Area into Community Haven by 2024

This Climate Action project involved a comprehensive overhaul, starting with desilting the lakebed and repairing the sluice gates. The team also fixed the inlet and outlet channels and implemented vetiver turfing to prevent erosion. An elevated walk path was created for public access, alongside the plantation of a Miyawaki forest for biodiversity enhancement. The creation of a wetland aimed at improving the ecosystem, complemented by significant civil and maintenance work.

The development of a community area, coupled with the construction of stormwater drains, was pivotal in improving the lake’s water quality. Culverts were built to manage water flow, and stone revetments were placed in major regions to protect the shoreline. Entry and exit gates were constructed for enhanced protection, along with fencing to secure the area.

An island was created within the lake to provide a habitat for wildlife. The installation of 4KW Solar-cum-wind lights ensured sustainable lighting around the lake. Furthermore, 20 stone benches were installed for visitor seating, and a children’s play area was set up to encourage family visits. The project also included the construction of an open-air gym, promoting health and wellness among the community.

By 2024, the completion of this project had benefited lakhs of people in and around the area, showcasing a successful model of environmental restoration and community development.
