GURUGRAM (India CSR): MG Motor India, under its community service initiative MG Sewa, in collaboration with Delhi Police and NGO PAHAL, has successfully empowered 50 women through the transformative ‘Wings to Fly’ initiative. The program, focused on professional car driving training, aims to create sustainable income opportunities for women by developing their driving skills and supporting them in securing employment.
Hands-on driving training
Implemented by PAHAL NGO, the initiative provided these women with hands-on driving training using MG Motor’s Astor and Comet EV vehicles. The responsive handling of these vehicles helped boost the confidence of the trainees, fostering healthy driving habits. Infrastructure support from the Delhi Police further ensured the participants were well-prepared to step into mainstream employment.
Encouraging recruitment
A key milestone of the program has been the successful employment of 16% of the participants with Delhi Police. Encouraging recruitment responses are also being received from organizations like BluSmart and Surekha. To broaden employment avenues, the program is exploring opportunities in valet services and other roles requiring skilled drivers.
The initiative is not just about training but about holistic empowerment. It provides a strong support system to guide these women through the process of acquiring driving licenses and transitioning into professional roles. The program embodies the core philosophy of MG Sewa – inclusiveness and meaningful societal impact.
MG Sewa, a flagship pillar of MG Motor India, is committed to creating a positive impact on communities. With a focus on girl child education and women’s empowerment, MG Sewa’s initiatives are implemented in collaboration with passionate volunteers and NGO partners.
