MUMBAI: At this fifth edition of Inspired 2018, Mastek Foundation is all set to support 3500 underprivileged children in the urban slums in West Bengal.
The concert accentuates this message of social sensitivity through the poetic brilliance, passion of late Padmashri Sahir Ludhianvi who held the social issues like poverty, prostitution, violence against women, homelessness very close to his heart.
Bollywood playback singer Sanjeevani Bhelande along with Shekhar Suman will revive and celebrate the poetry of Late Padmashri Sahir Ludhianvi. All-time favorites like Chalo Ek Baar Phirse and Aye Meri Zohrajabeen, Yeh mehlon yeh takhton, Aage bhi jane na tu, Abhi na jao chhodkar will be presented by 25 acoustic, top line musicians.
Singers like Padmashri Sudha Malhotra, Sushma Shreshtra and Prashant Naseri will melodiously present the mastery of his writings with 30 best of Sahir’s melodies on 21st April, Rangsharda auditorium, Bandra.
Funds raised will go towards construction of a school building in partnership with Samaritan Help Mission. Human Rights Activist, Mamoon Akhtar and founder of Samaritan Help Mission, Kolkata has changed the destiny of over 5000 children, saving them from hazardous occupations like rag-picking, drug peddling and working in small factories under harsh conditions. As a result of poverty, Mamoon was forced to drop out of school. Determined to eradicate illiteracy, he started teaching slum children and went on to establish Samaritan Help Mission. Their main motto “We go by need. Not by creed”.
Over the last 4 editions Mastek Foundation has raised close to a crore in aid of farmers in drought stricken regions of Maharashtra, empowerment of children in war-torn valleys of Kashmir, rescue and rehabilitation of trafficked women and children, provision of healthcare facilities for marginalized tribal communities and the like.
