As part of its wide-ranging, empathetic response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Mahindra Group donated a 1000 LPM Oxygen Plant to Silver Jubilee Sub-District Hospital in Baramati, Maharashtra. The Oxygen Plant was inaugurated by Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra today.
Reiterating Mahindra’s commitment to help India fight the COVID-19 pandemic, Ruzbeh Irani, President – Group Human Resources and Communications, said: “COVID-19 is a health crisis unlike any other that we have faced in the past. Times like this call for solidarity above all. We, at Mahindra, have partnered with governments to scale up medical infrastructure and provide oxygen plants, oxygen concentrators, ambulances, and set up temporary COVID-19 care centers.”
The Mahindra Group has been supporting the Government of Maharashtra in the fight against COVID-19 during the second wave by donating 210 Oxygen Concentrators, three ambulances, supporting frontline workers with face shields, PPE kits, and disadvantaged communities with cooked meals, and dry ration kits. It launched emergency cab services to support vaccination for the elderly and provided logistical support to transport oxygen cylinders through the Oxygen on Wheels initiative. The Group is also setting up two oxygen plants in Nasik and Pune.
In addition, Tech Mahindra has trained 358 paramedics through its SMART Academy for Healthcare and upskilled almost 300 nurses in Maharashtra through simulator-based training for monitoring ventilators. Tech Mahindra has trained 700 social workers, community volunteers, sanitation workers, and Anganwadi workers in COVID Swayam Suraksha programs.
In addition to installing 23 oxygen plants and donating 90 ambulances across 19 states, the Mahindra Group has committed substantial funds across India. The Group has supported the government’s relief efforts, re-engineered production lines and facilities to manufacture face shields, face masks and aerosol boxes, and provided ICU beds, emergency cab services, quarantine centres, oxygen-on-demand, monetary support and dry rations for the underprivileged.
