The young women will gain valuable workplace skills and mentorship, while the manufacturing industry will benefit from a more diverse workforce.
NEW DELHI: Jubilant Bhartia Foundation has taken a bold step towards promoting diversity and inclusion in the manufacturing sector by launching the Wementorship project. The project aims to provide workplace skills training and mentorship to 120 girls from nearby Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). These young women will then be inducted as apprentices at manufacturing sites, thus raising their participation in the manufacturing sector.
According to a recent report by the International Labour Organization, women’s participation in the manufacturing sector is only 20%, compared to men’s participation of 80%. The report further highlights that increasing women’s participation in the manufacturing sector could lead to economic growth and create new opportunities for women.
The Wementorship project by Jubilant Bhartia Foundation is a step towards achieving this goal. By providing training and mentorship to young women, the project aims to create a more hospitable ecosystem for women in the industry. This will not only increase their participation in the manufacturing sector but also empower them to become future leaders in the industry.
Speaking about the project, a spokesperson for Jubilant Bhartia Foundation said, “We believe that diversity and inclusion are essential for the growth and success of any organization. By launching the Wementorship project, we aim to create a more inclusive environment for women in the manufacturing sector. We hope that this project will inspire other organizations to take similar initiatives.”
The Wementorship project is a win-win situation for both the young women and the manufacturing industry. The young women will gain valuable workplace skills and mentorship, while the manufacturing industry will benefit from a more diverse workforce.
The project has received widespread support from various stakeholders, including the government, industry experts, and the community. It is a positive step towards creating a more equal and inclusive workforce, where women can contribute their talents and skills to the growth and development of the manufacturing sector.
