SALEM: MALCO Energy Limited, a unit of Vedanta Group has handed over a cheque of Rs. 7 Lakhs to Salem District Collector Thiru K.Maharabhushanam IAS, for developmental activities in PN Patty Panchayat, Mettur Taluk on 07.11.2014. The fund will be used for construction of community hall at a cost of Rs. 21 Lakhs under Self Sufficiency Scheme (SSS).
The gesture was made under the company’s CSR programme, which according to the company officials focuses on improving community welfare through various programs like education, health, infrastructure, women empowerment, livelihood and environment.
The company’s CSR activity in the past had also aimed at partnering with public schemes in developing infrastructure in villages. Stepping in this direction, MALCO Energy Limited had already partnered with district administration through Namakku Naame Thittam (NNT) and Self Sufficiency Scheme (SSS).
Rs. 10.71 lakh in 2008-09, Rs. 13.33 lakh in 2009-10, Rs. 5 lakh in 2010-11 and Rs. 1.5 Lakh in 2011-12 were contributed for the developmental activities in PN Patty Town Panchayat, Veerackkalpudhur Town Panchayat, Mettur Municipality and Gonur Panchayat. All the works were successfully completed by the Panchayats and is presently used by the community.
Mr C Murugeswaran, Head Operations & Whole Time Director of MALCO Energy Limited handed over the contribution cheque to the Salem District Collector Thiru K.Maharabhushanam IAS. Mr R Kandasamy, Head HR of MALCO Energy Limited, Mrs. Palaniammal, AD Town Panchayat, Mr P Ponnusamy, Chairman – PN Patty Panchayat & Mr. K Palanisamy, Executive Officer – PN Patty Panchayat were present on this occasion.
