The Chetak Foundation has announced its intention to work with GSV to enhance the Logistics and Transportation courses’ curriculum.
Vadodara (India CSR): Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) and Chetak Foundation signed an MoU to promote education and skill development among students at GSV. The MoU was signed by Prof. Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor, GSV and Arun Arora, Head & Director of Governing Board, Chetak Foundation in the presence of TV Ananthasubramanian, Registrar-GSV, Prof C.P. Nanda, Dean Admin, Prof Jitesh Thakkar, Dean Academics, Prof R. Edwin Raj, Controller of Exams, Dr Venkat Chintala, Prog. Director-B. Tech, Mr. Krishna Kumar, Deputy Registrar, Hublal Jagan, Deputy Comptroller HR, Sweta Jain, Deputy Finance Officer, GSV and Sachin JKS Haritash, Director of Chetak Group.
Chetak Foundation is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Chetak group, a leading player in logistics, in India. The Foundation is working on improving the quality of life for underprivileged communities in the logistic space and public at large in the domain of its focus areas.
Chetak Jai Krishna Scholarship to Girl students
Manoj Choudhary, Vice-Chancellor, GSV said, “We are delighted to enter into an agreement with Chetak Foundation to work on upgrading the course structure of Logistics and Transportation courses at GSV and to enhance employability of our students. This is in line with GSV’s vision of preparing youth for creating jobs and being employment ready. We are glad that Chetak Group is offering ‘Chetak Jai Krishna Scholarship’ to Girl students pursuing these courses. I hope this will encourage other corporates and organizations to take up such noble causes. We look forward to maintaining a long and fruitful relationship with Chetak Group.
Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV)
Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), Vadodara is a Central University, established through the Central Universities (Amendment) Act-2022. This University is sponsored by the Ministry of Railways, Govt. of India. Jai Karan Gati Shakti Award for the GSV students
Sachin JKS Haritash, Director of Chetak Group, said ‘We are delighted to have tied up with the prestigious Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. Our father Late Shri Jai Karan Sharma created livelihood opportunities for thousands of people and was passionate to help the underprivileged people in society. To take his vision forward, the Foundation has set up “Chetak Jai Krishna Scholarship” to help students of the Economically Weaker Section and Jai Krishna Logistics Awards to recognize the GSV students who will provide innovative solutions in the logistics domain. We are thankful to Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, GSV, Prof. Manoj Choudhary and his team for this alignment, which will seek to make students employable through world-class skill education” he added. Sachin also expressed a desire to institute an Outstanding Student Award to be called as ‘Jai Karan Gati Shakti Award for the GSV students.

Recognitions
Chetak Foundation was bestowed with the CSR India Award for Skill Development, CST Times Award for its Health Initiatives, and an ESG Award for Positive Social Impact. At the Social Impact Awards, the Foundation was also recognized and rated among the `Top 30 Most Trusted NGOs` for their exemplary work in Road safety and Hunger alleviation.

Jai Karan Sharma, Founder Chetak Group
Mr. Jai Karan Sharma was born in a farmer’s family in Jhinjhar, a small village in Haryana. Starting from scratch, he set up Chetak Logistics in 1979 and built Chetak Group into the leader in Logistics in India. Mr. Sharma brought in the latest technologies and management techniques in Logistics. He excelled as a self-made entrepreneur who relentlessly pursued inclusive growth. He was numerously recognized as Transport Rattan and Transport Samrat (AIMTC), Outstanding National Citizen (NSG), and Rashtriya Udyog Rattan (LOBRD).
He left for his heavenly abode in October 2020. Posthumously, he was bestowed with the title “The Logistics man of India” (Alden Global) in 2021. India Post issued a stamp in his honour to recognize his contribution to the nation’s socio-economic development in 2022. Mr. Sharma was also honored with the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at Social Impact Awards by Brand Honchos in 2023. Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari ji released a Biographical Book on Shri Jai Karan Sharma to honour and acknowledge him as a self-made entrepreneur and a philanthropist in March 2023.
