Udaipur: Hindustan Zinc, Udaipur, hosted a mega Industry Meet and National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) workshop, in collaboration with the Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region), Ministry of Education, Government of India. The event brought together government officials and leaders from industries to tackle the pressing need for skill development and job readiness among youth.
Distinguished attendees included Manas Khawas, Assistant Director, BOAT(NR), Ministry of Education, Government of India; Munish Vasudeva, Chief Human Resource Officer, Hindustan Zinc Limited; and Piyush Verdia, AGM-HR, Hindustan Zinc Limited, alongside representatives from over 40 prominent industries.
The event commenced with an informative session by Assistant Director Manas Khawas, who elucidated the objectives and effectiveness of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS). He emphasized the scheme’s pivotal role in addressing skill gaps, particularly in Rajasthan, and outlined expectations from stakeholders in the state.
Munish Vasudeva, CHRO of Hindustan Zinc Limited, highlighted the imperative of youth skilling in the current industrial landscape. He urged participating industries to proactively groom future-ready skilled manpower, citing Hindustan Zinc’s extensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in education, health, safety, livelihoods, and women empowerment.
During the workshop, Manas Khawas delivered a comprehensive presentation on NATS, underscoring its on-the-job training component aimed at enhancing skills and employability. He also highlighted the provision of stipends to apprentices by participating establishments during their training period.
Interested establishments and aspirants were encouraged to enroll on the NATS web portal (nats.education.gov.in) to avail themselves of the scheme’s benefits. Further information on NATS and updates on BOAT(NR) programs can be found on the website www.boatnr.org.
