BARAMATI: Over 120 children from Baramati celebrated Children’s Day at the company’s Pietro Ferrero Kindergarden facility. The celebration was graced by Stefano Pelle, Managing Director, Ferrero India along with the leadership team of Ferrero India.

This year also marked the 5th anniversary of the Pietro Ferrero Kindergarden. On the occasion, children displayed their talent through a cultural show which was themed “Circus” where they performed various dance forms.

Standing by its philosophy of spreading joy and supporting early childhood education in the communities where it is located, Ferrero India – one of the three Ferrero Social Enterprises of the Ferrero Group in 2014 started a world-class child care centre close to its production plant in Baramati, Pune. Through this initiative, Ferrero has been safeguarding health, education and social development of children of the community. The objectives are to make these children healthy, confident, competent learners and good citizens of India.

Stefano Pelle said, “The humanitarian and social spirit has been a key driving force for the Ferrero Group. It is encouraging to observe the milestones achieved by these children at our facility and the unwavering trust that we have from the community for their overall early childhood development. It gives me immense joy to see the exceptional work that Ferrero is doing for the community in Baramati and contributing to the wellbeing of the children who are India’s bright future.”

Pietro Ferrero was the force behind the Ferrero Social Enterprise and the Kindergarden was one of his social spirit initiatives that was aimed at safeguarding health, education and social development of children under the motto: United Kinder of the World.

The KinderGarden is very close to the heart of the Ferrero Group. It has been constructed in an area of 2 acres with plenty of space for children to play and run around and it has built up area of 10,000 sq. ft.

Children are exposed to quality innovative pedagogic methods which are experienced-based and helps them develop curiosity, self-confidence and social skills.

“Ferrero believes that a healthy environment plays a key role in the development of kids, therefore they are provided with quality preventive health care services with regular doctor visits for health check-ups and quality balanced nutritional diets. Kindergarden is particularly engaged in monitoring and fighting malnutrition and undernourishment of children.”, company said.

Ferrero India started its commercial operations in 2004. In 2007 the Government of Maharashtra bestowed a mega status project for its state-of-the-art production plant at Baramati near Pune. In less than a decade, Ferrero has become a strong player in the chocolate and confectionary segment in India. The company has made India a production hub for Asia and Middle East and exports half its local production. Ferrero’s well-known brands in India include Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac, Kinder Joy, Kinder Schoko-Bons Crispy and Nutella.

Rooftop Solar Power

Ferrero is one of the few food companies in India to install rooftop Solar Power at their manufacturing unit in India. Ferrero has invested approx Rs. 10 crores in this Solar Power project. This project is built on an area of 30,000 square meters and covers 12.4% of the total factory load. In this way, Ferrero is reducing its carbon footprint and protecting the natural eco system and is committed to making the lives of people better in the community.

Joy of moving’ program

In 2014, Ferrero launched the Kinder+Sport ‘Joy of moving’ program, which is an international Ferrero Group Social Responsibility Project that aims to bring joy of movement into the life of every child. Kinder+Sport program works on a global scale involving 30 countries and gets 5 million children moving every year. Over 500 children participate in the Kinder+ Sport camps held at Pune and Baramati.

The camp promotes and encourages physical activity, inspiring children to adopt active lifestyles from an early age, so that it becomes an integral part of their daily routine.

The company signed an MOU in early 2019 to construct 8 Anganwadis in and around Baramati in the next 2 years thus strengthening its support for preschool education.
