BALCONAGAR (Korba): Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer is playing a crucial role in providing excellent health facilities to the citizens of Korba.
On ‘Doctors Day’, Abhijit Pati, CEO & Director, BALCO, felicitated all the Doctors of BALCO Hospital and praised their continuous and relentless contribution of doctors and medical professionals of BALCO Hospital during the pandemic.
Pati also led a townhall organized in the honor of medical professionals which was attended by more than 200 people virtually from all parts of the plant premises. From the onset of pandemic, BALCO Hospital is taking extensive steps to ensure that the community, associate partners, employees, other stakeholders and all their families are sensitized to respond to COVID-19.
Speaking on the continuous efforts by the Doctors, Abhijit Pati, CEO and Director, BALCO said, “Humanity is our race and love is our religion. The health and wellbeing of our communities have always been our foremost priority. We have ramped up all measures to keep them safe and we will continue to upgrade our facilities. We have augmented our COVID Care facilities, accelerated vaccination drive and intensified community awareness on COVID appropriate behavior, at and beyond our operations. BALCO Hospital has been working for over four and a half decades and has been providing excellent medical services to our employees, business partners and members of community. More than 9200 individuals have been vaccinated under the COVID vaccination drive by BALCO. 3000+ COVID affected patients were given medical attention by the COVID care center established by BALCO.
Out of these, about 2800 patients were given medical facilities during their stay in home isolation and more than 200 patients were admitted in the center. During the second wave of the pandemic, more than 70 caesarean operations were performed. Medicines kits are being regularly distributed to the COVID affected employees, business partners and retired employees by BALCO Hospital.
Among other COVID initiatives, BALCO has developed a 100-bedded COVID Care Centre equipped with required infrastructure and medical staff to provide proper care and treatment to the affected. The company has also supported the Korba district administration’s efforts by providing critical equipment and medicines to fight the pandemic.
BALCO’s own 75-bedded super-specialty hospital is fully equipped with multi-specialty doctors to serve employees, their families, business partners and others. It is on stand-by to support the district administration as needed.

Under the Ayushman scheme of the Government of India, facilities of orthopedics, ENT, general surgery etc. are provided to the needy in the hospital. Open and laparoscopic surgeries are performed. Frequent health camps are organized for the rural populace. Along with the National pulse polio campaign, all the other vaccination programs prescribed by the government are followed in BALCO Hospital.
BALCO has marshalled all resources to establish a 100 bedded COVID Field hospital at Naya Raipur in the shortest possible time. The air-conditioned field hospital, which has 90 beds equipped with oxygen support and 10 beds with ventilator support. An expert team of doctors, specialists, and medical/paramedic staff is continuously manning the facility.
