MUMBAI: BSE, Paytm,Godrej and L&T declared whole hearted support for the Bharat Yatra announced by Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi.

BSE hosted the Nobel Peace Laureate at the Stock Exchange and launched the Bharat Yatra website in Mumbai today. The website provides complete details on the yatra, its journey and route map, the mission and vision statements as espoused by Mr Satyarthi as well as details on how people can participate in this historic yatra.

Paytm will be partnering with the Yatra and the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation in the march to end child sexual abuse and trafficking.

Vivek Gambhir (Managing Director at Godrej Consumer Products Ltd), Srikanth Joshi (CEO & MD, L&T Realty Ltd) and actor Vivek Oberoi spoke about the issues of child sexual abuse and trafficking, while urging people to join Satyarthi for the Bharat yatra.

Preparing the grounds for the yatra, Satyarthi has been interacting with several corporate leaders, urging them to organise programmes to sensitise their employees, discussing the best practices to curb this menace and join him in the fight against sexual abuse and exploitation.

He recently spoke to over 500 LinkedIn employees in Bangalore and received overwhelming support from them for his campaign and the upcoming yatra.

“India’s growth story must not be eclipsed by this moral epidemic. The estimated 9 % economic growth should be built on the pillars of a free, safe and educated childhood for all our children. I call upon the corporate India to not only make skilled India but also a safe India use their power, influence and skills. I have declared a war on rape of innocence, freedom and smiles of our children. Bharat Yatra against child sexual abuse and trafficking is not merely a campaign. It’s a war”, said Satyarthi.

Commenting on Satyarthi’s initiative, Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, BSE said, “On behalf of Bombay Stock Exchange, I extend support to Mr Kailash Satyarthi for the Bharat Yatra. We hope that this march across the length and the breadth of the country will usher in a revolution that helps to secure our future and the future of our children. Kailash ji has been fighting for children’s freedom and safety for over three decades, and his passion and commitment to see every child in this world live safe and free is inspiring.”

Satyarthi is undertaking the Bharat Yatra, across the country to sensitise the citizens and incite mass mobilisation to push for a country where sexual abuse and child trafficking become severe aberrations and not a casual crime.

Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis took to twitter to congratulate Satyarthi on the launch of the Yatra. “Maharashtra will warmly welcome @k_satyarthi ji & the #BharatYatra to put an end to Child Sexual Abuse and Trafficking! #MakeIndiaSafeAgain”

The inaugural, announcing the launch of the Bharat Yatra, was held in New Delhi on the 22nd of this month and saw Satyarthi make an impassioned plea to all the citizens of the country to join him in this fight. The website launch comes as the second part of the Yatra announcement, post the unveiling of the route map and awareness video of the Yatra.

Bharat Yatra is the launch of the three-year campaign against child rape and child sexual abuse which is aimed at increasing awareness and reporting of the cases, strengthening intuitional response including medical health and compensations, ensuring protection for victims and witnesses during trials and increasing convictions of child sexual abuse in a time bound manner.
