RAIPUR (India CSR): In a major boost to archery and tribal sports development in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced on Sunday that NTPC Limted will invest Rs. 20 crore to set up two world-class archery academies—one in Jashpur and another in Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of a one-day coaching seminar organized by the Chhattisgarh Archery Association at Aloha Hotel, Ram Sagar Para, Raipur. The seminar brought together 30 coaches from 20 districts, who received advanced training from BSF Head Coach and International Archery Coach Manoj Kumar.
“Archery is Our Heritage,” says CM
Speaking at the event, CM Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized the importance of archery in Chhattisgarh’s tribal culture, “In my childhood, I practiced archery. Even today, the Korwa community proudly carries bows and arrows. This initiative will transform our cultural strength into sporting excellence.”
“The upcoming academies—funded by NTPC—are envisioned as centers of excellence, offering modern infrastructure, scientific coaching, and residential training facilities to young archers, especially from tribal and rural backgrounds.”, Kailash Murarka, Vice President, Archery Association of India, informed India CSR.

A Vision for Sporting Empowerment
The coaching seminar was a step forward in skill development, with technical guidance provided on shooting techniques, biomechanics, and competitive strategy. Districts represented included Surguja, Jashpur, Rajnandgaon, Bijapur, Bilaspur, Dantewada, and Durg.

Minority Commission Chairman Amarjeet Chhabra was welcomed during the inaugural session, and the event concluded with certificates distributed to all coaches and a memento presented to the Chief Minister.
