NEW DELHI: Centre has assured full assistance to the State of Uttar Pradesh for cleaning of Ganga. This assurance was given by Union Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Sushri Uma Bharti to Shivpal Singh Yadav, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister of UP, when he called on her here today.
On the proposal of construction of rubber dams on Ganga by the State Government, the Union Minister sought a detailed report on the issue and assured Yadav that her Ministry will examine the proposal with a positive mind.
Yadav also requested Sushri Bharti to release central assistance for Saryu Canal National Project on which UP has already spent Rs. 522 crore. Sushri Bharti directed her Ministry officials to look into the matter and do the needful at the earliest.
Yadav also requested for special central assistance for Bundelkhand region of his State to which the Union Water Resources Minister assured him to look into the request. Sushri Bharti requested Shri Yadav for his State’s co-operation in various projects to be taken up by her Ministry at Mathura, Vrindavan and Kanpur.
