Fifth edition finale in Mumbai, graced by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, celebrates breakthrough STEM ideas from young minds across 26 states.
MUMBAI (India CSR): Maharashtra Chief Minister on Monday underlined the importance of developing interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among children, saying it was vital for preparing the country for future challenges posed by climate change and disruptive technologies.
Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the Brillio National STEM Challenge in Ravindra Natya Mandir, Mumbai, the Chief Minister said that the world is witnessing rapid changes, and India must equip its youth with the knowledge and skills required to stay ahead.
“The kind of challenges that we are facing due to climate change are questions of existence. Disruptive technologies are reshaping the world, and in this new era, India must be ready,” he said.
He emphasised that artificial intelligence, combined with quantum computing, will transform industries and lifestyles, making nations more powerful. “If India has to move one step ahead, as our Prime Minister says, and become truly ‘Atmanirbhar’, then all knowledge must be created within the country,” the CM noted.
The Chief Minister said innovation and human resource development are the need of the hour, and nurturing curiosity for STEM among children is essential. “We must also create awareness about green technologies, and such events provide an excellent platform,” he added.
He appreciated the exhibition organised as part of the event, noting that the informative models on display would help spread awareness. Congratulating the winners, he said, “I extend my best wishes to all three winning teams — first, second and third — and to their teachers. You are the ones who can make India self-reliant and take the country ahead.”
Expressing gratitude for the invitation, the Chief Minister called on participants to continue their efforts in innovation and STEM Learning and its Founder, Ashutosh Pandit, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering scientific talent and sustainability-driven education.

Brillio’s flagship CSR initiative
Now in its fifth year, the Challenge is Brillio’s flagship CSR initiative, designed to bridge India’s skills gap by equipping government school students with future-ready STEM skills, hands-on tech experience, and the confidence to become innovators of tomorrow. This year’s edition brought together over 2,500 students and 200 teachers from underserved schools in 26+ states, trained in new-age technologies through a year-long series of workshops, mentoring sessions, and competitions run by Brillio in partnership with STEM Learning.
From more than 90 cluster and zonal rounds, the top teams from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Haryana made it to the national stage at Mumbai’s Ravindra Natya Mandir. The finale was judged by an esteemed panel of mentors and industry experts, and attended by distinguished guests.

Brillio National STEM Challenge
Launched in 2019, the Brillio National STEM Challenge runs year-round, with students participating in hands-on projects, quizzes, and model-making, supported by science labs and DIY kits. More than 100 Brillio volunteers engaged weekly with students — sharing tech news, running quizzes, and guiding them in building models like laser security alarms, vacuum cleaners, and hydraulic bridges.
The impact goes beyond innovation: participating schools have reported higher attendance, more active classroom engagement, and improved digital literacy. For many students, it’s their first real step into a future where they can shape India’s innovation story.
