Living far away from your family during the festivals can be very challenging, especially when a loved one, such as a brother, is unable to physically attend the celebrations in India. However, it is still possible to include him in the festivities and make him feel connected to your Indian traditions and roots, despite all the distance.

In this article, we will explore how to bridge the gap caused by distance and keep your brother connected to his Indian roots, i.e., culture and heritage.

1. Embrace the Technology

In this era of fast-growing internet and advancement in technology, you can use video calling platforms to include your brother in the festivities. With the help of video calling, you can bring your brother home so that he can witness the atmosphere of a home filled with traditional rituals and celebrations through a screen. This will allow him to feel a part of the festivities despite being physically distant.

2. Send Care Packages

On occasions and festive seasons when your loved ones are living in countries where getting visas is a bit challenging, and they can’t make it home, it is very sad. Instead of portraying sadness, you can cheer them up by sending gifts to them.

You can create or customize care packages for your brother or sister that will encompass the spirit of Indian festivals, like Raksha Bandhan, with a bit of essence of a home touch. You can fill it with items like traditional sweets, ethnic wear, etc., and can send rakhi to USA from India, as Indian cultures are very hard to find in countries like the USA, Canada, Africa, etc.

You can send decorative diyas too, or anything related to festival-themed clothing, or DVDs of Bollywood films. This thoughtful gesture of yours will make them feel connected to the traditions and give them a sense of belonging, even from a distance.

3. Arrange Cultural Workshops

If your brother or sister is living in countries like the UK or America, where Indian cultures are very hard to find, you can ask them to participate in local cultural workshops or events that promote Indian traditions.

Your brother or sister could enjoy this kind of event. These events include dance classes, cooking classes, or language courses. By exploring these activities, they can foster a deeper understanding and connection to his Indian roots and with his family. Additionally, they may be able to connect with other individuals who share similar backgrounds and interests.

4. Share in Digital

During the happening of occasions, you can share photos, videos, and even live updates of the festival with your brother in a way not to make him feel left away. This act of nature will ensure that he is kept up-to-date on the happenings, and he can experience joy and excitement through digital media.

You could send digital memories compiled in an album of all the happenings in your home in a way to evoke the reminiscing in him. You could ask him to exchange his experiences from any part of the world that he lives in too.

5. Arrange Virtual Cooking Sessions

When your loved ones are distant from you, miles and miles away, it is very normal to miss every detail of your home. When it comes to food, the cravings do hit in a different manner to encourage your loved ones. You can set up a virtual cooking session, where you and your loved ones, brother or sister, can prepare traditional Indian dishes together.

You can share recipes, cooking tips, and anecdotes and create an interactive experience that will bring the flavors and aromas of Indian festivals to life. This activity will not only highlight the importance of traditional food but also strengthen the bond between you guys.

6. Love Heartly

It is very important to acknowledge that while there may be a physical distance between you and your loved ones, the bond of family and shared heritage can bridge that gap.

From a distance, you can only appreciate them in a way that they should feel the warmth of your fondness; it is your duty to provide as much care as possible. At a distance, the only thing that will matter to your loved ones will be your kind gesture.

To make them more special, you can find innovative ways to show your care; you can include your loved ones in Indian festivals by tagging their gifts too respectively, such as sweets for your sister-in-law, toys for the child, rakhi for brother in USA, NYC, California, or any part of the world. Sending stuff online from your home country can be an excellent idea.

You see, in different nations, miles and miles away from home, the most important thing a person misses is the essence of home touch.

Conclusion

Being separated from your sibling during Indian festivals can be emotionally challenging, but with the help of technology, customized care packages, and encouraging local connections, it is possible to keep your loved ones involved in the celebrations despite the physical distance.

Through this kind of act of appreciation, you could help them in assembling joy with you. This can encourage their active participation, and you can keep them connected to their Indian roots and ensure that they feel a part of these cherished traditions, no matter where they may be in the world.
